San Francisco Wedding Planner Wedding Ideas, Inspiration, & Unique Decor - Bellissima Vita Weddings Mon, 21 Jul 2014 23:59:24 +0000 en Painted Glass Bottles and Jars - Wedding Centerpiece Ideas Wed, 03 Oct 2012 14:23:19 +0000 lisa I have a ton of glass laying around…time to DIY!! I picked some of my favorite colors, yellow and gray, in latex paint.

Truth be told the paint was pretty thick…maybe I bought the wrong latex? Once I watered it down it was easier to coat the glass.

Love the look of the finished product. Let it dry though!! It takes longer than you think.

The Beauty of Military Blankets Thu, 13 Sep 2012 15:17:32 +0000 lisa Sometimes my blog goes more in the design direction but I promise I’ll tie this into a wedding use. I love military blankets. Something about them are so beautiful to me…rough, vintage, historical. Here are some of my favorites:

Italian Style

US Issue

And my favorite this grey and yellow one.

Now picture this…an outdoor wedding complete with a smore’s station or a campfire…enter military blankets. Fairly inexpensive and rustic, it would be nice to have some laying around when it gets chilly.

]]> Mason Jar Salads for Wedding Reception Wed, 22 Aug 2012 14:30:47 +0000 lisa I came across a post about Mason Jar Salads and I started to think that this might be a super cute idea for a wedding reception. Perhaps a laid back farm wedding or maybe a wedding reception in a barn?!?!

Jars could already be on each place setting, in the buffet line or even served individually by wait staff.

Tips for making a Mason Jar Salad include:

1. Dressing on bottom, lettuce on top.

2. On top of dressing should be something hearty like shredded cabbage, pea pods or carrot matchsticks

]]> Wedding Photo Place Cards Fri, 17 Aug 2012 15:52:23 +0000 lisa I have to be honest (and I apologize in advance if I offend anyone) but I sometimes feel that a lot of weddings we see on blogs blend together. Don’t get me wrong they are all overwhelmingly beautiful…but most are very similar.

I am always searching for new ideas, brainstorming new ways to revamp old ideas but in reality it’s hard. Most things have been done.

Enter my Wisconsin bride, an easy to work with laid back girl who just wanted a fabulous party. When I asked her if she wanted to “reserve” seats for certain family members at the ceremony she said yes and in her casual laid back style asked if we could just tape pictures of those people to the seats. Then the creative juices began flowing.

Why not do this for the reception? We have all seen photo walls, photo tables, photos strung on twine…but why not attached to each seat? A fun way to find your seat and a great conversation piece for the guests.

Granted this probably is only practical for a small wedding and if done for a larger wedding you would probably need escort cards to guide people to the correct table and then they could find their seat.

Well without further ado…wedding photo wall meets place cards:

]]> DIY Recycled Glass Centerpiece Idea Sun, 12 Aug 2012 17:21:57 +0000 lisa When I ran across this beer in the store I knew I had to make something out of these amazing bottles…I wanted a more modern look a la Crate and Barrel.

I wound up at a home improvement store looking for glass paint and clear coat. I chose both the white and clear coat in a matte finish.

After some trial and error I found the best way to spray paint them was to put my finger inside (or my sidekicks finger) and spray away. Wear gloves!!

The finished product was awesome! Love the matte finish.

Such a great way to recycle beautiful bottles. A fun way to add interest to your centerpiece or home decor. Remember you can paint any glass…jam jars, soda bottles, mason jars etc. Have fun! Play around and be creative.

]]> Burlap Wedding Decor Revisited Thu, 09 Aug 2012 16:17:01 +0000 lisa I love burlap…I think just the slightest amount can add charm, interest and texture to any wedding.

Browsing around Etsy I found the following gems:

Such a charming centerpiece. You can find it here.

Gray burlap…my new favorite.

In love with this burlap headband…perfect for a bride or flower girl.

Carnival & Circus Themed Wedding Part 2 - The Food Fri, 20 Jan 2012 18:54:26 +0000 lisa Gosh I love fun food. And food is often a great way to carry a wedding theme out. For a rustic italian wedding it is common to come across food served family style just like sunday dinners in sicily.

What kind of food would be appropriate for a carnival or circus themed wedding?!?! Well the possibilities are endless really. Mini corn dogs with a fancy aioli, truffle popcorn, even cotton candy!

Staws can be found here.

I had the pleasure of dining at Straw in San Francisco recently. If you need some carnival and/or circus inspired food just check out their menu!! Plain awesomeness.

Carnival & Circus Themed Wedding Part 1 - The Bride and Groom Fri, 06 Jan 2012 17:23:20 +0000 lisa I think a Bride and Groom’s wedding attire can certainly set the mood for the whole wedding. When you choose a carnival or circus themed wedding this can be the place where you can really set yourselves apart from other brides and grooms. Bright Colors.Vintage.Whimsy. Have some fun like the couples below did!!
